Edmundston Man Charged in Fatal Bar Fight

An 18-year-old Edmundston man faces a charge of involuntary manslaughter following a fight outside a night club in Saint-Jacques, New Brunswick late last month.

According to Edmundston police, the violent altercation was reported around 2:30 a.m. on December 28th.  When police arrived, one man was lying unconscious on the ground with severe injuries.

The victim, 22-year-old Ricky Cyr was taken to the Edmundston Regional Hospital and later transferred to Moncton City Hospital, where he underwent surgery.  Cyr passed away last Friday.

On Monday, Gabriel Eugène Cyr appeared in provincial court in Edmundston and was released on several conditions.   He is due back in court on February 4th.

Funeral Services for Ricky Cyr will be held Wednesday in Saint-Jacques.  The two men are not related.
