Edelman 2 TD’s, Patriots Move to 7-0 [VIDEO]
Despite a short week to prepare, the New England Patriots are the first team in the NFL to post a 7-0 record after beating the Miami Dolphins Thursday night 36-7.
The Pats set the tone early by driving the field on their first possession which ended with a Tom Brady touchdown pass to Rob Gronkowski. It was just the start to another productive game for Brady who finished with 355 yards passing and 4 touchdowns. Two of those touchdowns went to Julien Edelman in the fourth quarter. Gronk led the team in receiving with 113 yards while Dion Lewis returned to the lineup to catch 6 passes for 93 yards and a touchdown.
Kicker Stephen Gostowski made two field goals in the game with the second setting a franchise record as it was his 26th straight make. That breaks the previous record held by Adam Vinatieri.
The Patriots defense also came up big in the game by intercepting Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill twice and sacking him 5 times.
The 7-0 start to the season is the second in team history. The other time was in 2007 when the Pats posted a 16-0 regular season.
