Just minutes after beating the Norwich Cadets 27-13, the Husson Eaglse got even more good news - Mount Ida College lost its game and that combo means the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference title belongs to the Eagles.

The win is the 8th consecutive for Husson (8-1 overall and 6-0 in the ECFC). With one game to play (at Mt.Ida), the Eagles know they are in the NCAA Division III playoffs for the second time in three years.

The victory over Norwich was not easy. Leading 13-0 in the 3rd quarter, Husson saw the Cadets strike quickly for two scores to tie the game.

In the 4th quarter, John Smith scored on a 2-yard run and then QB Corey Brandon connected with Kadeem Edge for a 56-yard pass TD to put the game away.

Smith finished the day with 44 carries, 211 yards and 3 TDs. He now has 50 careet touchdowns. No other Husson player has done that.

The Eagles offense outgained Norwich 445 yards to 199 yards.

LB Ellis Throckmorton led the defense with 8 tackles.
