The Maine Warden Service has identified the victims as Kobe Berry of Bangor and 49-year-old Jamie Main of Crystal.

Witnesses said the two were swimming in the river's west branch around 3:30 p.m. when Berry began struggling in the current near the middle of the river. Main, a family friend, attempted to rescue the boy but both became submerged.

Members of the Warden Service, Maine State Police, and the Island Falls Fire Department searched by aircraft, watercraft and walked the shores of the river.

Wardens say Main's body was recovered from the river at around 6 p.m. Friday and Berry's body was found two hours later.
