Twitter was abuzz on Tuesday morning as news broke that the 2015 season would be Don Orsillo's last as the Boston Red Sox play-by-play man on NESN. The Red Sox, and specifically, NESN appear ready to move in a different direction with their broadcasts. WEEI's "Dennis and Callahan Show" broke the news this morning:

This will be a tough pill to swallow for loyal Red Sox fans. Orsillo is a New England native, born in Massachusetts and growing up in New Hampshire. He took over play-by-play duties for NESN in 2001 and immediately grew a likable rapport with longtime analyst Jerry Remy. Orsillo and Remy have spent the last 14 years as the NESN broadcast team, commentating some of the highest rated NESN broadcasts in history.
