Dombrowski Explains Buchholz Trade [VIDEO]
Red Sox president and GM Dave Dombrowski admits the team had an excess of starting pitching after the Chris Sale trade. But, Dombrowski also admits the Clay Buchholz trade to the Phillies is part of a move to get under the $195-million-dollar luxury tax threshold.
And so the deal was done.
The longest tenured pitcher for the Sox is in Philly and in return the Sox get rid of his $13.5-million salary. They also get a young second baseman, Josh Tobias.
Buchholz had been a Red Sox since being drafted in the first round in the 2005 draft.
