Dan + Shay are lending their talents to the soundtrack for the upcoming film The Shack. The country duo's poignant new song "When I Pray for You" is featured on the upcoming album The Shack: Music From and Inspired By the Original Motion Picture, and they've released a new video for the song.

“‘When I Pray for You’ is one of the most special songs we’ve ever written,” singer Dan Smyers says in a press release. “We sat down with our friends Jon Nite and Justin Ebach and got to talking about Shay’s son-to-be. With some good stories (and even a few manly tears), the song wrote itself. It was an emotional day, one of those days that make us remember how blessed we are to be a part of the Nashville songwriting community.”

The song has Mooney singing of how he wants to be the father his dad was to him and how he hopes he doesn't mess fatherhood up.

"I talked to God about you / And I ain't even met you yet / Everybody's waiting on you here / I can't wait to feel your heartbeat when I lay you on my chest / I'm already holding back my tears," Mooney sings alongside soaring piano accompaniment at the start of the song.

The music video for the song includes clips from The Shack, starring Sam Worthington, who plays Mack Phillips. Phillips' character is at a crossroads following a tragic incident in his family and he finds himself at an abandoned shack in the Oregon wilderness, where he meets several strangers who help him make sense of the tragedy.

“When I Pray for You” is the third instant grat track available by pre-ordering The Shack: Music From and Inspired By the Original Motion Picture. The soundtrack also features a new duet from Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, "Keep Your Eyes on Me," along with songs from Brett Eldredge, Dierks Bentley, Kelly Clarkson and Lady Antebellum.

The Shack is set to open on March 3, 2017.
