Hot off her success with the Tony Award-winning Kinky Boots, Cyndi Lauper is at it again on Broadway, this time lending her musical talents to a stage adaptation of 1988’s Working Girl.

The New York Times reports Lauper is at work on the music from the movie, which starred Melanie Griffith as a secretary at a Wall Street bank fighting for respect in the male-dominated world of finance. Boy, sure is a good thing everything has changed since then. The movie’s original song, “Let the River Run” by Carly Simon, won the Oscar that year, but it’s unclear whether Simon will be involved in the Broadway adaptation.

Lauper’s first go at writing music for a Broadway show, Kinky Boots, made her the first single woman to ever win a Tony for Best Score.

“I love the film [Working Girl], and its story about a woman’s very unconventional road to success in the ’80s is something I know a lot about,” Lauper said in a statement. “Women are still fighting for fundamental rights and equal pay!”

We don’t yet know who the cast is or when it’ll hit the stage, but New Girls Kim Rosenstock is writing the book and is expected to have a first draft ready soon. Fun fact: Lauper, naturally, also wrote some of the music for the SpongeBob SquarePants musical, which is coming this fall.
