Stop by the Northern Maine Community College as they celebrate Community College Month and National Poetry Month. For the seventh consecutive year, NMCC will host its annual Creative Writers’ Reading Series at the Edmunds Library at noon on Wednesday, April 23.

Creative Writing students will read from their own original work, followed by guest writer, Shonna Milliken Humphrey. Humphrey is a Houlton native and will read a passage from her published work and then answer questions.

Humphrey’s career includes 20 years of professional writing, editing, and teaching experience. Her nonfiction has been published in The New York Times, Salon, and The Atlantic; her first novel, "Show Me Good Land" was a semi-finalist for the 2012 VCU Cabell Award.
