It’s true! The lineup included Neil Young, John Mellencamp, Alan Jackson and Sawyer Brown. Tipper Gore, wife of vice president Al Gore, played drums with Nelson.

• He wrote his first song at age seven and when he was nine, he played guitar for the local band Bohemian Polka.
• Growing up he raised pigs for the Future Farmers of America organization.
