- He grew up in a religious household. His father, a Christian minister didn't allow any secular music played in the home.
- He started singing in a band as the lead singer for a group called "Chasin' Country," but they weren't as serious about music as he was, and when he booked them a gig at the popular Longbranch, the band gave him his pink slip, kicking him out of the group.
- His musical influences include Garth Brooks, George Strait, Randy Foster, Billy Ray Cyrus, Vince Gill, Pearl Jam and Aerosmith.
- He started writing songs around the age of 12.
- In the summer of 2008, he toured with Martina McBride on her "Waking Up Laughing" Tour.
