An accident involving two vehicles in Littleton Saturday afternoon sent one woman to the hospital.

State Trooper Jill Monahan responded to the crash on the Front Ridge Road in Littleton at approximately 3:45 pm, according to a press release for Sgt. Brian Harris.

Sgt. Harris said that 72-year-old Ernest Buchalla of Oakfield was southbound on the Front Ridge Rd. and had stopped his 2004 Jeep in the roadway.  Thirty-four-year-old Andrea Carmichael of Littleton was traveling behind Buchalla in a 1997 Chevrolet pickup was unable to stop and swerved to the right to avoid striking the vehicle.

Carmichael’s pickup hit the snowbank and rolled onto its side, Harris said.. Carmichael sustained an injury to her knee and was transported to Houlton Regional Hospital via Houlton Ambulance. Her pickup sustained significant damage in the crash and was towed from the scene.

Buchalla’s vehicle was not damaged and he was uninjured.
