On this day in 1984, Merle Haggard scored his thirtieth No.1 song with his version of Lefty Frizzell’s ‘That’s the Way Love Goes.’  The song spent 21 weeks on the charts and earned Haggard a Grammy for Best Country Vocal Performance—Male.
