Police say a 6-year-old child was injured Saturday morning when they were thrown from a vehicle in a rollover crash in Washburn.

The Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office was called around 9:45 a.m. to assist the Washburn Police Department with a crash on the Washburn Road.

Investigating officers determined that 45-year-old Dawn Brooker of Washburn was driving east in a 2003 Chevy van when she lost control of her vehicle. Roads in the area were icy at the time as a result of freezing rain.

The Sheriff’s Office said the van went off the road and rolled over several times before coming to rest on its passenger side. Brooker’s 6-year-old child, who was sitting in a safety seat, was ejected from the vehicle.

Crown Ambulance transported the child to Northern Light AR Gould Hospital in Presque Isle with what police called “non-life threatening injuries.”

Deputy Jesse Belanger was the primary investigator and was assisted at the scene by Washburn Police, Washburn Fire Dept. and Crown Ambulance.

The vehicle was towed from the scene due to disabling damage. The investigation is ongoing.
