20-year0old Chase Elliott set Daytona 500 history Sunday afternoon when he won the pole position for this year's Daytona 500. He is the youngest driver ever to win the top spot.

Elliot is the son of longtime NASCAR racer Bill Elliott. Chase drove the #24 Chevy to a speed of 196.314 MPH. He takes over the #24 ride from Jeff Gordon who retired after last season.

Matt Kenseth finished second in pole qualifying and will be on the outside of row one.

The rest of the field starting spots will be determined on Thursday with two 60-lap mini races.
