Cassadee Pope's "Take You Home" video is her first in nearly two years.

The video, directed by Justin Nolan Key, was shot in Nashville, and in it Pope is riding around in a cab after a night out on the town. It's pretty simple — Pope says she wanted to allow the "Take You Home" lyrics to tell the story instead of the video.

“Since 'Take You Home' has such a vivid lyric, I didn’t feel like the video needed a storyline,” Pope says. "I wanted to support the song, not to overshadow. I love how much of a departure the look is from my past music videos. I wanted to go darker with the colors, more inconspicuous with the locations, edgier with the wardrobe. Making videos has always been a dream of mine since I was a little girl. Now I get to help create and star in them! I couldn’t be more excited!"

"Take You Home" was co-written by Paul Digiovanni, Ben Hayslip and Emily Weisband and marks a new beginning for the singer. Pope says it's "in-your-face musically, really intimate, and a little seductive" — the first glimpse of new music from this singer since she parted ways with Big Machine Label Group last year.

In a new interview with Taste of Country, Pope reveals that the more upbeat tunes on her forthcoming project helped her during a difficult year in which she left her label and broke up with longtime boyfriend Rian Dawson.

"The happy songs such as ‘Take You Home,’ it helped me escape the sadness during that time," she says.
