A 21-year-old Carleton County woman has pleaded guilty to several charges stemming from a motor vehicle accident last year that claimed the life of a 16-year-old girl and injured 5 others.

Whitney St. Pierre of Tracey Mills entered her pleas Tuesday in Woodstock Provincial Court, according to Brunswick News. The RCMP said that just before midnight on July 5, 2015, the car St. Pierre was driving went off Route 560 in Williamstown and rolled several times, ending up in a field.

Six people were thrown from the vehicle. Sixteen-year-old Emma Pearson of Glassville, New Brunswick died at the scene. Five other passengers, ranging in age from 15 to 22, suffered serious injuries in the crash.

St. Pierre's next court appearance will be in January.
