A 25-year-old Caribou woman remains behind bars after police say she was arrested for theft and possession of heroin.

Caribou Police Department received a call at approximately 7:00 a.m. Saturday from Caribou One Stop alleging that they just witnessed a woman steal from the store and leave on the Cyr Bus Line. Officers were able to catch up with the bus and stop it, according to information from Caribou Police.

After questioning, police took 25-year-old Veronica Lopez of Caribou into custody. Caribou Police say items from the store were found in the woman’s possession along with drug paraphernalia and a substance that tested positive for heroin.

Charges include Class C  Felony Theft, Possession of Schedule W Drug, Violation of Conditional Release and Criminal Mischief, police say. Bail was set at $5,000 cash or $25,000 surety.

Lopez was transported to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton and will await her arraignment on June 9.
