According to Officer Chad Foley of the Caribou Police Department, 31-year-old Joshua Holmes of Caribou was driving south on Main Street and had stopped to make a left turn onto Lyndon Street shortly before 7:45 a.m.

An RSU 39 school bus, driven by Rodney Bourgoin, also southbound, was unable to stop in time on the snow covered road, and struck the back of Holmes' 2003 Dodge Neon.

Officer Foley said the bus driver had been momentarily distracted by activity on the bus. There were 19 students on the bus at the time. No one was injured.

Holmes' car sustained significant damage to the rear end. There was no damage to the bus.
