The checkpoint will begin Friday, August 18th in conjunction with the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety’s 2017 Evidence Based Impaired Driving High Visibility Enforcement Campaign, according to a news release from Caribou Police Chief Michael Gahagan.

The purpose of the checkpoint is to ensure all motor vehicles, drivers and passengers are in compliance with State of Maine laws and make sure the roads are safe for traveling motorists, Gahagan said.
