UMaine freshman shortstop Jeremy Pena led off the game against #6 UMiami with a home run but then rest of the night belonged to the Hurricanes, a 6-2 win over the Black Bears.

Maine sophomore Justin Courtney(1-1) pitched a solid six innings, giving up two runs (one earned), six hits, with three strikeouts and three walks. He left the game trailing 2-1 and was charged with the loss.

It was reliever Nick Silva who struggled for the Bears in the seventh inning out of the bullpen. After walking two batters, the 'Canes got three straight hits to take control of the game at 6-1.

Maine did push across one more run in the eighth inning.

Colin Ridley led the Bears with three hits and a RBI. Pena had two hits.

Jacob Heyward led the Hurricanes going 3-for-3 with a RBI, three runs scored and two stolen bases.

#6 Miami has won five in a row to improve to 10-2. Maine has lost four in a row and falls to 3-8.

Note: UMaine softball split a doubleheader with Penn, winning 10-9 and losing 3-0.
