The Bangor girls basketball team is one of the hottest around following a 35-31 win over Thornton Academy. With the victory the Rams have won 6 of their last 7 games.Bangor got off to a quick start thanks to junior center Katie Butler who scored 8 of her team high 14 points in the first quarter. She was also a force on the boards with many of her field goals coming on second chance opportunities.

The game was tight throughout and featured 9 lead changes. The biggest lead of the game was 6 points which Bangor held in the final two minutes of the game.

Bangor is now 6-4 on the season while Thornton Academy falls to 7-3.

The Bangor boys were not as fortunate as they fell to the Golden Trojans 58-46. The Rams fell behind by as many as 21 points before making a charge in the second half and cut the lead down to 8. Thornton was able to extend the lead and cruise to the win and improve their record to 9-0.

Ben Lambert tossed in a game high 20 points for the Trojans while Jack Tilley added 14.

Bangor was led by Justin Smith who scored 19 points with all but 6 coming in the second half. The loss drops the Rams record to 2-8.
