Brett Eldredge will be absent from the 2016 CMA Awards -- but he's got a good excuse! The Chicago Cubs are playing the Cleveland Indians in Game 7 (the final game) of the World Series on Wednesday night (Nov. 2), and Eldredge will be at the big game.

Eldredge, a native of Paris, Ill. (located about 160 miles due south of Chicago) and die-hard Cubs fan (his "Wanna Be That Song" video was filmed at the Cubs' Wrigley Field!), shared via Snapchat on Wednesday that he had a hard decision to make: "50th CMAs, and Cubs are going to the World Series and it’s been 100-and-something years."

"Which one do you do?" Eldredge, who was not nominated for any CMAs this year, muses. "Which one do you do?”

"It’s been my family’s dream, from my grandparents all the way down to my father and my brother and I, and my whole family, to go to the World Series," the country star shares ... so, they're going to the World Series! In a Snapchat video, Eldredge shows his dad and his brother, seated in the backseat of his car, headed to World Series Game 7.

The Chicago Cubs haven't won a World Series since 1908; in fact, they haven't even been to a World Series since 1945! The game begins at 8PM ET and will be broadcast on Fox. The 2016 CMA Awards, meanwhile, will air live from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena, also beginning at 8PM ET, on ABC.
