Celtics guard Avery Bradley scored 31 points, Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask pitched a shutout and it turned out to be a good Saturday night for Boston teams.

Bradley's 31 points included a career-high eight 3-pointers. He also hauled down 11 rebounds as the C's beat Steve Clifford's Charlotte Hornets 104-98.

Clifford is the former UMaine Farmington player and Woodland HS coach who now is head coach of the Hornets.

Isaiah Thomas added 24 points as the Celtics improve to 2-1 on the young season.


In Detroit, goalie Tuukka Rask returned from injury for the Bruins and that made all the difference in the world. A 1-0 win over the Red Wings. He stopped all 24 shots in saw to collect his 31st career shutout.

B's fourth liner Tom Schaller scored the only goal of the game.

Former UMaine goalie Jimmy Howard was also outstanding in goal for the Wings, he made 35 saves.

The win gets the Bruins back to .500 at 4-4.
