Sheriff's Deputies investigating the accident determined that a boy from Dixfield had been riding his bicycle down a field trail,  entered the roadway, and struck the side of a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am driven by 43-year-old Kimberly Long of Island Falls. The boy, who was visiting his grandparents in Island Falls, was thrown from the bicycle.

He was taken to Houlton Regional Hospital by Island Falls Ambulance where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle was not injured, but was understandably shaken up.

There was over $1,000 damage to her vehicle.
