Police have arrested a man in connection with a fatal fire early Monday morning just north of Hartland, New Brunswick.

Emergency crews were called to a home in Peel at approximately 4:45 a.m. Monday.  The house was completely engulfed in flames when crews arrived, according to Constable Derek Black of West District RCMP.

A body was later discovered inside the home. Police continue to work to identify the victim.

The RCMP’s Major Crime Unit along with West District RCMP from Woodstock are investigating the fatal fire in Carleton County.

Cst. Black said a man was arrested Monday evening in connection with the fire and remains in custody.
