Grouse and woodcock hunting season officially starts tomorrow in the great state of Maine. In the Southern Part of the state, waterfowl season will kick off tomorrow as well.

On Thursday wild turkey hunting season kicks off and goes until Nov. 1. This year's turkey season is a longer one and hunters will be able to hunt in more areas due to a growth in the turkey population.

State officials are reminding grouse hunters about a new law that requires hunters in or traveling through unorganized territories to label their harvested birds with their name and date before the next calendar day.

For more information on limits and hunting regulations, go to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife website.

Happy hunting, my friends!
