Most Valuable Player finalist Mookie Betts underwent a successful knee surgery to remove a loose body in his knee.

The right fielder dealt with the injury for at least part of the season, according to reports, and had his surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Betts is expected to make a full recovery and be ready for the start of Spring Training with the Red Sox.  The outfielder may not be able to play for the United States in the World Baseball Classic in the Spring however.

The outfielder has already won a Silver Slugger and Gold Glove for his 2016 season of play, in which he dealt with the injury, and is one of the leading candidates to win the American League Most Valuable Player award.
