Benefit for Local Boy Diagnosed with a Brain Tumor
Since March 31st the Washburn Elementary School has been conducting a "parking meter" penny drive for a young man diagnosed with a brain tumor.
Fifth grader, Reed Plummer, was diagnosed with Pure Germinoma (brain tumor). The tumor was removed, but was found to be cancerous, resulting in a need for further treatments.
The students and staff at the DJL-Washburn District Elementary School have been raising money to help with Reed's medical costs by way of a penny drive. According to the school, the penny drive has been successful, resulting in many buckets of pennies.
There will also be a benefit dinner for Reed on April 19th, 2014 from 4-6p at the Washburn Trailrunners Clubhouse, on the Station Road in Washburn.
The dinner will include baked beans, hotdogs, salad, rolls, and a drink. Cost will be $5.00 per person. Donations will also be accepted.
