A week ago UMaine softball coach Lynn Coutts left the program to become an associate Athletic Director. Her Husband Mike took the reins and has added to the coaching staff.Coutts and the University has announced the hiring of Bangor native Ryan Jones as an assistant coach for the upcoming season. In a press release from the school Coutts said "We are excited to add Ryan to our softball staff and have him become a part of the Black Bear athletic family," said Coutts. "He brings the right combination of knowledge, enthusiasm, loyalty and trust that will help us continue our quest to become one of the premier teams in the northeast. We expect great things from him."

For the last three seasons Jones has been the head coach of the Scarborough High School baseball program, and served as an instructor at the Edge Academy baseball and softball training facility.

Jones played played high high school baseball at Bangor for coach Jeff Fahey.
