Viewers of the Bangor’s WVII newscast were shocked when co-anchors Cindy Michaels and Tony Consiglio decided to quit their jobs during live broadcast. See the video.

Their decision to leave the job they’ve been sharing for the past six years was fueled by disagreement with upper management.

‘Some recent developments have come to our attention ... and departing together is the best alternative we can take,’ Consiglio said.

Station employees speculated that the duo quit over salary dispute, but Michaels set the record straight tonight by announcing: ‘There was a constant disrespecting and belittling of staff and we both felt there was a lack of knowledge from ownership and upper management in running a newsroom to the extent that I was not allowed to structure and direct them professionally.’

However, Mike Palmer, vice president for the station, said in an interview, that Michaels and Consiglio resignation was expected, but Palmer denied accusations that upper management was involved in the daily newscast structure.
