To accommodate the Street Fair, Main Street in Presque Isle will be closed to vehicular traffic starting at 4:00 p.m. from Riverside and Blake Streets at the northern end of Main Street to Academy Street at the southern end.  Between Blake Street and Academy Street, Presque Isle’s downtown will be alive with fun for everyone.

The Presque Isle Elks, Lodge #1954, are sponsoring the Street Fair for the seventh consecutive year.  According to Elks Exalted Ruler Marion Donahue, “Farming is a predominant feature of life here in Central Aroostook.  That becomes immediately evident on any balloon ride, which typically ends in a farmer’s field.  This year the Elks want to pay tribute to the contributions of farms and farming to the economy and culture of this area.”

The Jerry T Band will join with its offspring, French Toast, to provide live musical entertainment at the intersection of State and Main Streets.  This live entertainment is being sponsored by the Machias Savings Bank in order to ensure that everyone in attendance has an exceptional time.

Merchants up and down Main Street will be open late in order to provide special offers and activities during the Street Fair.

In addition to selling food items, the Presque Isle Elks will have its dunking booth in full operation.  All proceeds from the dunking booth and the Elks’ food sales will benefit the Maine Children’s Cancer Program. The Elks will also sponsor bounce houses, a magic show, and games where children can win school supplies.  These activities for children will be free of charge.

The Presque Isle Fire Department will be on hand to demonstrate its equipment and to provide educational material regarding fire safety.
