Following the weekend's extreme cold, we'll see a rapid warm-up on Tuesday. Temperatures will begin rising overnight with snow developing. Snowfall totals are expected to range from 2 to 6 inches by midday, when freezing rain enters the mix.

Forecasters say we can expect periods of rain and drizzle Tuesday afternoon as well as patchy fog and gusty winds. High temperatures will likely reach the low 40's Tuesday.

The messy weather will extend to Bangor and the Dover-Foxcroft area, according to the Weather Advisory.

The wild mid-February weather comes on the heels of a cold snap that saw temperatures sink below -10° F for three straight nights in the Presque Isle/Caribou area.
