For the third time in a week, much of Aroostook County will be in the path of a significant snow event.

The remnants of a winter storm expected to dump up to a foot of snow on the Boston area on Monday should arrive in northern Maine after nightfall.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for central and southern Aroostook County for Monday night and Tuesday with snowfall totals of 4 and 6 inches likely.

The advisory extends from the Caribou/VanBuren area southward. The snow is predicted to overspread the area after midnight and continue through the day on Tuesday.

Forecasters say some of the coldest temperatures of the winter should descend on Aroostook County at the end of this week.
