The National Weather Service office in Caribou has issued a winter storm warning for much of Aroostook County from late Thursday night through Friday evening.

Forecasters say rain Thursday night will change to snow in northern areas overnight. Heavy, wet snow is expected during the day Friday as daytime temperatures dip to near the freezing mark.

Snow accumulations from the storm should range from 2-4 inches in southern Aroostook County, 4-8 inches in central Aroostook and 8-12 inches possible in the north.

The Weather Service says wind gusts up to 30 mph could also lead to drifting and isolated power outages.
