Atlanta-based singer-songwriter Alannah McCready is premiering the music video for her girl-power anthem "Last Girl Standing" exclusively for readers of The Boot. Press play above to watch the clip.

A fiery pop-country tune, "Last Girl Standing" shows off McCready's powerhouse vocals while driving home the message that all women have the power to go their own way: "I live a little large, larger than life," she sings. "I ain't just waiting to be someone's wife / But if you're strong enough for a woman like me, I'll show you how strong love can be."

A native Midwesterner, McCready has taken a decidedly interesting path to the music world. In college, she was a goalie on two national championship-winning hockey teams, and after graduating, McCready put her dreams of a musical career aside to work in public relations for a sports management company. Eventually, an uncle connected her with a producer in Nashville, who insisted that McCready visit Music City and record a few songs.

“I feel like my voice doesn’t sound like a typical country artist,” she says. “And I don’t look like the typical country artist!”

"Last Girl Standing" will appear on McCready's forthcoming sophomore album, Ricochet Heart. The record is set for release on April 27.
