The annual Children’s Fair, sponsored by Aid for Kids, takes place Saturday, September 7th at the Millar Civic Center in Houlton. Activities will run from noon to 3.

Once again this year, Bess the Book Bus will be stopping on its national tour to provide free new and used books for children.

Mad Science of Maine will present a fun, interactive science show with hands-on activities for everyone to enjoy.

The Maine State Police will have a driving simulator and fatal vision goggles for all to try to help reinforce the importance of responsible driving.

Lowe’s will provide Build and Grow kits –fun building projects that kids can put together with the help of a Lowe’s employee.

The Maine Forest Service helicopter will be on site and the pilot will be available to talk with young people about the mission of the Forest Service.

The Houlton and Presque Isle Elk’s Clubs will have a drug awareness booth, and the Masons will have a Child Identification booth to help parents make a kit of identifying materials of their child.

Up There Woodturners of Aroostook County will be demonstrating their craft.  Danya Boyce from the Houlton Band of Maliseets will have a booth on basket making. Took a Leap Farm will give a demonstration on their dwarf dairy goats for all to enjoy.

ACAP will have materials on oral hygiene at their booth. Judy Bouchard will have a booth on distracted driving.  Bangor Savings Bank will be available for parents to help their children open a new savings account, to which the bank will donate the first 5 dollars.

The County Clownz will help entertain the kids with face painting and balloon animals. There will be games, prizes, popcorn, balloons and a free barbeque.

Dr. Johnson, a pediatric dentist from St. Apollonia Dental Clinic in Presque Isle will be hosting a booth.

A collection box will be set up for gently used clothing, belts, & handbags; all donations will go to Catholic Charities.

Bring your recyclable plastic containers from the health and beauty section—shampoo, conditioner, makeup, soap & body wash containers.  A collection box will be available with proceeds going to the Houlton Humane Society's ongoing fundraiser.
