A couple from Trenton, Maine and a Connecticut man have been charged with heroin related offenses following a vehicle stop by the Maine Marine Patrol.

On Friday, Marine Patrol Specialist Sean Dow and Marine Patrol Officer Richard Derboghosian stopped a vehicle on Rt. 230 in Trenton for operating erratically. The driver, Ronald Golden, 31, of Meriden, Connecticut was found to have a suspended Connecticut driver’s license and was not authorized to operate a motor vehicle. With Golden in the vehicle were three individuals from Hancock County who were all on pre-conviction bail for various offenses, said officials.

Drug agents from MDEA’s Downeast Task Force in Ellsworth and Hancock Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene to assist Marine Patrol Officers. They seized about 200 bags of heroin on one of the passengers. Agents were able to determine that this heroin was part of a larger amount, estimated to be approximately 750 bags, brought into Maine by Golden for re-sale in Hancock and Penobscot Counties. Also seized was approximately $1100. The street value of the heroin was $8000.


Charged are:

  1. Ronald Golden, 31, of Meriden, Connecticut. Golden has been charged with Class “A” Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W drugs (Heroin). This charge was aggravated due to the amount of heroin seized. Bail was set at $2500 cash by a bail commissioner.
  2. Austin Kleffman, 28, of Trenton, Maine. Kleffman has been charged with Class “A” Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W drugs (Heroin). This charge was aggravated due to the amount of heroin seized. Bail was set at $1000 cash by a bail commissioner.
  1. Ajha Stanley, 20, of Tremont, Maine. Stanley was charged with Class D Unlawful Possession of Schedule W Drugs (Heroin) and Violation of Conditions of Release (Class C). Bail was set by the bail commissioner at $400 cash on the drug possession charge.

All were transported to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office for booking following their arrests. The fourth person in the car was not charged.
