This year's moose hunting season has been extended to 5 days per the Fish and Wildlife Act. With the longer season, the number of licenses available for New Brunswick residents was held at 4,612, which is the same as in 2013.

The Department of Natural Resources says it increased its aerial moose survey effort over the winter to ensure that the moose population could sustain a longer season, without long-term consequences.

The New Brunswick moose season runs until Saturday, September 27th.
