19-Year-Old Dies in Crash on Wet Roads in Somerset County
Maine state police say worn tires likely caused a young driver to hydroplane and strike a tree, killing him on impact.
19-year-old Kelcin Dullas, of Levant, was pronounced dead at the scene of the early Saturday morning accident on southbound Interstate-95 in Pittsfield.
Authorities say they were called to the scene at about 1:17 a.m.
Trooper Ken Moody says Dullas' truck had an expired inspection sticker and inadequate tires. Investigators believe the worn treads caused the crash during the overnight rainstorm.
Balding tires and speed on wet road, leading to hydroplaning, are considered factors. Alcohol was not involved.
