Friday, May 9th

There will be a Mother/Son dance from 7 to 9 Friday evening at the Caribou Wellness & Recreation Center. It's a Country & Western theme.  Dance to Music X-Press. Cost is $5 per couple. For more info call the Caribou Rec. Department at 493-4224.

The Houlton Recreation Department is holding a Dance from 7-10pm Friday at the Rec. Center for students in grades 7-9 . KC & Company  will DJ the dance with great music, cool black lights, fog & laser show. Cost is $5 per student.

Saturday, May 10th

The Maine Dance Academy is holding their 20th Annual Recital, "SHREK" on  Saturday at 7pm and Sunday at 2. Tickets are on sale at the studio on Sweden Street in Caribou or by calling Colleen at 498-4027.

The final day of the 2014 Anah Shrine Circus, with clowns, animals, high-wire acts and much more. Tickets are $4 for children, $8 for adults. It all happens at the Forum in Presque Isle.  Saturday show times are at 10 a.m., 2 and 7 p.m. For more info, visit AnahShriners.com.

The 12th Annual Family Fun Day in Sherman on Saturday, hosted by the Molunkus Valley SnoDrifters.  A duck race, sack race, 3-legged race, egg toss for all ages.  A Silent Auction runs from 9-4 at the Clubhouse. Open grill, fries, chips, ice cream and drinks.

The PIHS Skills USA Spring Fever 5K is scheduled for Saturday morning. Registration starts at 8 a.m. at Presque Isle Middle School. Start times: Kids’ Fun Run (free up to age 11), 9:00; 5K walk, 9:15; 5K run, 9:30. FMI Contact Amy White amy.white@sad1.org

A Pitch, Hit and Run Competition will be held Saturday in the Caribou Recreation and Wellness Center gymnasium. Registration for ages 7-10 is at 8 am and competition starts at 9:00. Registration for ages 11-14  is at 10 a.m. with the competition starting at 10:30.

The U.S. Postal Service  asks you to join the "Stamp Out Hunger" food drive on Saturday.  Leave non-perishable food items for your mail carrier and they'll deliver it to local food banks.

The 3rd Annual Canoe Race  is set to kick off at the Merrill Millstream Park on Saturday. Registration at 9am. Start time: 10 am. Food 11:30 – 1:00 (burgers, hot dogs, baked beans $5). Awards 1pm.  Cost $10 per paddler (includes free lunch & participation gift). For more info call Ken Bustard at 659-2018

Join Presque Isle Historical Society on Saturday, May 10th for a 2 1/2 hour narrated tour of historic Presque Isle aboard Molly the Trolley.   Hear true stories of spies, nuclear missiles, transatlantic balloon flights, POW camps, the 1959 national Christmas Tree, stage coaches, gold, a lynching, and much more.  Seats are limited and reservations are required.  Tickets are $5.  Tours depart from the Historic Fire Station at 9:00 a.m.   Call 762-6300 to make a reservation, or 762-1151 for more information.

A Scrapbooking/Paper Crafting Mini-Convention is being held at the Presque Isle Inn and Convention Center on Saturday from 10-4.  Shopping, card making, door prizes.  No admission charge but there is a fee for materials and classes.

 

The MSAD#1 Music Boosters will have a table set up at Graves Shop N Save from 10 to 3 on Saturday to sell Boston Red Sox Package Raffle tickets.

The Health Services Foundation 2014 Charity Auction will be held on Saturday at The Horn Restaurant  in Houlton. The preview begins at 5:00 PM. Sunday, May 11th - Mother's Day

The Van Buren Knights of Columbus are hosting a special Mother's Day Breakfast on Sunday, May 11th . Time:  7 to 1. The cost is 7 dollars/ 5 dollars for children ages 5-12.  Children under 5 eat for FREE!  Mother's Day at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Van Buren.
