Friday July 11

Presque Isle’s First Friday Art Walk has been a fun tradition for four full years now.  Enjoy live music and art displays at a number of shops, cafes and galleries in the downtown area between 5 and 9 p.m.  Tasty food and good company.  Click here for the full line-up.

It looks like a great night for a movie under the stars. Presque Isle PD invites you and your family to watch "Shrek" at Riverside Park in Presque Isle Friday evening. The movie will get started on the big inflatable screen around 9:00pm. Take your lawn chairs and blankets and some refreshments and enjoy a free night out.

 

Saturday July 12

The  Maine Potato Blossom Festival kicks off Saturday with the town-wide yard sale. Maps are available at local businesses.  A chess tournament at 9 a.m. in the bandstand, a horseshoe tournament at 10 a.m at Riverside Park West. There are horse clinics at the Rocking S Ranch, entertainment with Donna Nelson and Friends at the bandstand at 6:30  and the Miss Maine Potato Queen Pageant at the Fort Fairfield Middle/High School Gymnasium at 7 p.m.

The Ashland ATV Club is having their first annual ride on Saturday.  They will be meeting at McDonald Field off Oak Street at 7 a.m. and will ride to Scopan Mountain.  Please bring your own lunch & refreshments.   A gas grill will be provided should you choose to bring hot dogs or burgers.  ALL ATV CLUBS ARE WELCOME. The Presque Isle Rotary Club's 9th Annual Charity Golf Scramble takes place Saturday at the Presque Isle Country Club.  Shotgun start at 9 a.m. (Golfers must check in no later than 8).  The cost is $120 per team. Click here for more info.

Easton Field Days has a big day planned on Saturday.  A parade on Center Road at 10 a.m. Exhibits, amusements and a craft show on the school grounds starting at 11.  The historic Little School on Station Street will have an open house from 12noon to 4. There's a variety show at Easton High School at 7:00  Saturday evening and a fireworks show around 9:30 p.m.

The Presque Isle Historical Society will host a 2 1/2 hour narrated tour of historic Presque Isle aboard Molly the Trolley.  Tours depart from the Historic Fire Station at 9:00 a.m. Seats are limited and reservations are required.  Tickets are $5 per person.   Call 762-6300 to make a reservation.

Arootsakoostik Music Festival runs from 11 am to  9 pm Saturday at Thomas Park in New Sweden. The festival is now in its 8th year, and as always it brings to the County some of the best Maine-based indie rock and roots music!  The Toughcats, Putnam Smith, Tricky Britches and many more.  Great food on site, vendors, crafts, & fun for the kids.  Admission is $20 at the gate.

Linneus Family Field Day will be held on Saturday at the Linneus Community Ball Field. The parade will begin at 10 AM. Decorate your bicycles, floats, ATV'S, wagons, classic cars, etc and join the parade. It will be followed by a barbecue (burgers, hot dogs, buns and condiments will be supplied).  Please bring a side dish to share. There will also be Games, a Bounce House, Dunk Tank and more!  Sponsored by the Linneus Rec. Department.

The Northern Maine Antique Tractor Club will hold their 7th Annual Memorial Tractor Trek on Saturday in the northern Aroostook area.  The trek will start at 9 a.m. at the Edwin Pelletier & Sons in Frenchville.  The route will go to Fort Kent. Lunch is a chicken barbeque at the  Tommy LaChance Farm. The Tractor Trek will cover about 50 miles and finishes in Frenchville. Proceeds will benefit Hospice of Aroostook and the House of Comfort Hospice House Project. Click here for more details.

You're invited to be a part of the Bicycle Coalition of Maine's Aroostook Cycling and Camping Trip to Lincoln from Saturday, July 12 - Saturday, July 19th. Tour Maine's largest county at the height of potato blossom time and discover The Way Life Should Be. Distance: 24-61 miles per day; 330 miles total. Check out the Midsummer's Night 5K & 10K Glow Run/Walk in Presque Isle Saturday evening. Dress in glow-in-the-dark shirts and bring glow sticks.  Lots of fun, music, laser lights, and a crazy finish! Registration is at 7 p.m. at Presque Isle Middle School track. Kids 1-mile Fun Run starts at 7:45 p.m. Race starts at 8:20. Cost is $20. Free family-friendly movie under the stars after the race. Sunday July 13

Transformations Ministries in Presque Isle is hosting  a free community picnic from 5:00- 7:30  Sunday evening at  36 North Street. Bring your family and friends.  No agenda— just good food and a chance to meet some new people.  There will be a special activity for kids at each picnic.
