10 NFL teams sent scouts to Orono on this snowy Monday to check UMaine football talent. Most wanted a closer look at defensive end Trevor Bates and center Bruce Johnson.

The Patriots, Jets, Packers, Jaguars, Chiefs, and Bills were among the 10 teams checking out nine seniors on the annual Pro Day at UMaine. The Black Bear players showed their best in the weight room and then moved to individual workouts.

The large number of scouts usually means some of the UMaine players could get free agent calls if they do not get selected in the upcoming NFL draft.

Bates, is a 6-foot-2, 250-pound defensive end from Westbrook, Maine. He was second in tackles for Maine last fall with 57. He had 7.5 sacks.

Johnson, is a 6-foot-3, 300-pound center from Rochester, NY. He won the Rimington Award for top center in FCS football.

NOTE: The 2016 NFL draft is April 28-30 and can be heard live on Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket. Check out post Pro Day comments from UMaine players and coach Joe Harasymiak tomorrow on the Morning PItch Show from 6a-8a.
